Parmigiani Fleurier – Parmigiani Fleurier Designs Demand
Michael Parmigiani, born in the town of Couvet in Switzerland in 1950, founded a company primarily based on restoration of watches in 1975. This company was highly successful in its work for many years. The Sandoz Family Foundation purchased the majority of the shares of the company and decided it was a good time to expand and diversify the company´s primary business. So during this time, the very first of the Parmigiani watches were created and released. There were clocks and women´s and men´s watches. By 2001 the foundation had bought three other companies, including Bruno Affolter SA, Atokalpa SA, and Elwin SA, who were both watch component and case making companies.
The watches designed and created by Parmigiani Fleurier are each crafted with over four hundred hours of work and time. Each of their designs is created with only precious or semi-precious stones, and precious metals. The amount of timepieces created each year is limited to several hundred, which makes them highly desired. Their Bugatti 370 received an award in 2006 for "Watch of the Year", and the first one was given to Ralph Lauren. These watches cost $200,000 each, and only 150 of them are made annually. This company continues to excel in the creation of luxury watches every year.
