Jaeger Le Coultre – Jaeger Le Coultre: Workshop to World Famous
Antoine Le Coultre had small beginnings when he opened up his shop in 1833. By 1844, he had established the measurement of the micrometer for the very first time, which would springboard his company to eventually become the company Jaeger Le Coultre. Then in 1847, he created the keyless winding system which would change watch winding for good. It used to require a key, but he created a push button system. He received a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in London in 1851 for his accomplishments and lifetime works. Antoine had a son named Elie and knew it would be important to make a team under one roof to manufacture the watches, and so he began the manufacture.
Elie Le Coultre made more than 350 different calibers within 30 years, and out of those 350, 128 of them featured chronograph functionality and 99 had mechanisms that were able to repeat. In 1903, the company Jaeger Le Coultre was formed and the world´s thinnest pocket watch movement. Over the years that followed, the company made great progression as a timepiece manufacturer in the world. In 2009, Le Coultre was found to have created the world´s most complicated wristwatch, featuring 26 complications.
