IWC Pilot's Watches - The Best in the World!
With a stable history and proven products, the International Watch Company, or IWC,
has provided many men and women beautifully intricate chronograph and automatic
watches. Beginning in 1868 up until today, generation after generation have experienced
the functionality that Florentine Ariosto Jones, an American watch maker brought
to the stunning Swiss watches. With aviation becoming more and more predominate,
IWC saw a need for IWC Pilot's watches. The first being made in 1936, IWC
started a revolution in aviation. The first watch was a simple yet complex time
piece that was made with rugged glass, luminescent hands, an arrowhead index as
well as an antimagnetic escapement.

IWC Pilot's Watches did not stop there. In 1940, IWC wanted to join ranks
with the military and offer a watch that fulfilled all of the requirements of that
era. Being the largest time piece that IWC has ever built, this watch was 183 grams
in weight and 55 millimeters in diameter. This large faced watch allowed the pilot
to make changes in course without having to look continuously at his watch. Many
would say that the movement to safe travel through the air can be credited to IWC
and their lightweight design that removed the need for pocket watches and other
gauges.
In 1948, IWC Pilot's Watches took a new approach and the most popular Pilot's
watch to date was produced, the Mark 11. The movement of the watch is protected
from magnetic fields with the soft iron case and they were so popular that they
were made until 1984. Today, many pilots desire this type of watch for collecting.
However, if needed, they could still be used and function just as well as they did
the day they were made. Over the years, Pilot's watches grew in popularity and IWC
knew that they needed to raise the bar in standards.
1994 marked the year that IWC Pilot's Watches changed. IWC released the Mark
XII that had date display and automatic movement. Then in 1998, pilots were able
to buy the watch that allowed them to change the time and day by only using the
crown. Moving on to 2002, IWC released a whole new line of Pilot's watches that
go back to the roots of the Big Pilot's Watch. These remain the most popular and
IWC has the most desired Pilot's watches out of ten of the best watches available
in the world!
