Corum was born in Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland when the co-founders joined Gaston Ries, a watch making group in 1955. The company now has an owner with majority interest in Corum that plans to keep everything consistent with how the company was created.

Corum created a niche and today they still possess this niche in the watch collection world. The $20 Liberty Eagle watch was created by putting quality motorized parts between a U.S. $20 gold coin cut in half. This process had been conquered before but the watches were not made into wrist watches, only pocket watches.
